This Privacy Policy explains how GeniusMentor ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit geniusmentor.ai, contact us, or create and use a learner account at app.geniusmentor.ai. We process personal data in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) and other applicable laws.

Plain-language summary: The marketing site collects almost nothing — no analytics or advertising cookies. The learning product collects what it needs to teach you: your account details and your learning activity (doubts, quiz attempts, progress). For learners under 18, a parent or guardian sets up the account and gives consent first. We never sell your data. You can delete your data anytime by emailing hello@geniusmentor.ai.

1. Who we are

GeniusMentor is the data fiduciary responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: hello@geniusmentor.ai.

2. Children and parental consent

For learners under 18, a parent or guardian creates and controls the account and provides verifiable consent before any learning begins, as required by the DPDPA. Parents can review the learner's progress (including the plain-language session reports), and can correct or delete the learner's data at any time. If we learn we have collected data from a minor without proper consent, we will delete it promptly.

3. What we collect

3.1 When you visit this website

Server logs — IP address and browser user-agent, used for security and to debug compatibility issues.
Functional cookies — only what is required to run the site (such as CSRF protection). No analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.

3.2 When you create an account in the learning product

Account details — name, email, and (for school learners) the parent or guardian's details and consent.
Track and class information — for example CBSE class, or the skill courses you choose.
Payment information — processed by our payment provider if you subscribe; we do not store card numbers ourselves.

3.3 Learning activity (your Digital Twin)

To teach you properly, the product records how you learn — this is the Digital Twin described on our site:

Lessons taken, learning minutes used, and quiz attempts and scores.
The doubts you ask, kept in your own words, so the tutor can re-teach them.
Derived learning insights — concept mastery, sub-part breakdowns, review schedules (forgetting curve), and which teaching styles work best for you.

We do not collect: Aadhaar or other government IDs, precise location, or any sensitive categories of data under the DPDPA.

4. Why we collect it (lawful purpose)

To provide and personalize the tutoring service — the core purpose of the Digital Twin.
To operate accounts, subscriptions, and learning-minute balances.
To send parents plain-language session reports.
To prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
To respond to your questions when you contact us.

We process this data on the basis of your consent (DPDPA §6) — given at account creation, by the parent or guardian for under-18 learners — and as necessary to provide the service you signed up for. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 7).

5. Who we share data with

We share the minimum necessary data with service providers that help us run the service — such as cloud hosting and payment processing — each bound by their own privacy policies and processing agreements. We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information when required by Indian law or to protect rights and safety.

6. How long we keep your data

Account and learning data: for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your personal data within 90 days, except where the law requires longer retention (for example billing records).
Website server logs: rotated and deleted after 30 days unless required for incident investigation.

7. Your rights under DPDPA

You (or, for under-18 learners, the parent or guardian) have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold.
Correct or update inaccurate data.
Erase your data (right to be forgotten).
Withdraw consent at any time — this will end the service for that account.
Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity.
Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@geniusmentor.ai from the address on the account. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards: HTTPS for all traffic, CSRF protection, hashed credentials, and rate-limiting. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password for your account.

9. Cookies

This website sets only functional cookies required to run the site. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies here. If this changes, we will update this policy and, where required, request your consent before placing non-essential cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves or laws change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we will notify account holders by email.
